Having three days off when EVERYONE WHO LIVES IN MY HOUSE has three days off also doesn’t mix.
Haven’t they figured out that I go outside to get away from them? Can’t they leave me alone so I can get the words out of my brain and into a word doc where they belong?
Isn’t the fact I managed to get all of the laundry done and put away, seemingly apparating in and out of closets, the laundry room, and the patio enough for them?
The answer to all of those questions is a resounding NO!
All excited at the prospect of having the next three days off and updating a few fics before Boss Man shows up to rain on my fanfic parade.
The weather was extremely cooperative this morning and since the bulk of my writing takes place at my patio table, while the sun is barely rising in the sky, I was giddy.
But my laptop isn’t always cooperative and won’t boot up when I turn it on sometimes, which results in me having to do what’s been dubbed The Easy Bake. I leave it on, close it up, and sandwich it in between two of the throw pillows from my couch. Then I wrap a fleece blanket around the whole thing like a burrito, so it’ll overheat. And when it does?
Voila!
All better.
Knowing this, I’ll sometimes turn it on the moment I wake up, so if it has to be easy baked, I can do it while I’m taking care of other things around the house, like feeding the small zoo I’ve acquired over the years.
Meet Fluffy, who’s a pseudo-celeb on my kid’s Snapchat account.
Knowing this, I should just really get over my OCD-Can’t-Stand-Change self and buy myself a new one, but that’s a story for a different day.
But I didn’t turn it on first thing this morning and instead fed the zoo, along with everything else I normally do. So when I was given the black screen of death and flashing caps lock key that is the equivalent of hearing my laptop say…
I was forced to do The Easy Bake and find something else to do, while it did. The TV was on while I was making my laptop burrito and tuned into the Today Show, so I ended up catching this:
But I am, which is why, instead of writing a chapter to any of the umpteen WIP’s I have going on, I ended up writing something else. Something that – in my mind – shouldn’t be very long. That being said, it’ll probably turn into a million chapter fic. Let’s hope not.
